Organizational history
Women's Resource Center was the result of women in Grand Rapids who became increasingly aware of the emerging needs of women and sought a vehicle to carry those needs forward. These women felt they could speak for those whose educational, social and economic opportunities had been severely limited. Together, they identified a need for a women's organization in our community.
From the onset, the Center was conceived as a cooperative effort involving both a paid staff and a cadre of highly motivated and trained volunteers. To date, hundreds of volunteers have contributed their time, energy, and vision to benefit all women.
Since opening its doors, Women's Resource Center has closely monitored the social and economic issues affecting women in our society. In response, it has implemented valuable programs to help women succeed in a dynamic culture.
With ongoing financial support from the community, foundations, and organizations such as the Heart of West Michigan United Way, we can continue to grow and evolve. WRC's 30 year history...
