Working Women’s Clothing Closet

The Working Women's Clothes Closet (WWCC) offers women the clothing and accessories they need  in order to project a professional image and effectively compete in today's job market. Over 300 women a year take advantage of this service.

With its boutique atmosphere and personal service, the WWCC provides a comfortable environment where women can develop their professional appearance and attitude. Trained volunteers serve as personal shoppers assisting women in choosing outfits that are the most flattering and appropriate for her situation.

Donation Guidelines

Due to limited space, we can only accept business clothing that is appropriate for job interviews and is:

  • current in style (3 years old or less)
  • clean and in excellent condition
  • current season

Here is a list of the types of items we accept:

2 pc. Suits  Dress pants       Skirts
Blazers Blouses      Lightweight  cardigans/sweater sets
Shoes Jewelry      Coats (in season)
Purses, totes, portfolios

We can only accept NEW bras and hoisery.

Ask yourself, "Would I wear this to a job interview?" If the answer is "No", we recommend you donate those articles to other worthy organizations. (see below)

If we receive like new clothing that is not appropriate for the workplace, we send those items to a women owned consignment shop to sell. The proceeds we receive are used to purchase brand new bras for our participants and to cover the other costs associated with the operation of the closet.

How to Make a Donation

Unfortunately, we do not have the capability for pick up service or the capacity to accept estate clothing.

Donated clothing may be on hangers, bagged, or boxed. Please keep packaged donations to a reasonable weight (35 lbs max.) so that our volunteers and staff (AND YOU!) can safely handle them.

Donations are accepted at the Women's Resource Center office on:
Mon, Wed, Thurs:  9am-4pm
Tues  9am-6pm
Fri  9am-Noon

Call us at 616-458-5443 if you have questions.
